While there continues to be many friendships that have inspired and assisted my daughter and me in our venture in Collies, Judie is our one treasured mentor.
Many years ago, while at a news stand, I opened a magazine and just by happenstance, saw a picture of CH Clarion Marmalade Skies. (Marla was not only pretty, but she was a CCA Reserve WB and CCA Best Puppy!) I had no idea that a Collie that pretty could exist. On the Clarion website I poured over the Collies. They all had that "pretty stamp"--elegance, outline, and expression. Judie sent us a great show prospect, and then gave us great advisement on showing and then breeding. Judie didn't become my mentor the day I bought Leo, she grew into my mentor over the years during endless conversations, emails and texts. She adds another perspective or element to consider and has saved me from some otherwise "hard lessons." While Judie's talent is in breeding a successful, and distinctive line of exquisite collies, she has also been a favored specialty judge for decades and has been honored with the Collie Club of America assignment twice. We need good mentors and we need good friends along the way...thank you Judie, for being both. |
